It is quite heartening that Hagia Sophia Public School, during the brief period of its stance, has made remarkable advancement and growth in all fronts – both academic and non academic. Indeed the school has emerged as a miracle on the wasteland; but it gradually established its existence and started accomplishing its role as an ideal educational institution. I fondly appreciate and admiringly acknowledge the keen interest and unique enthusiasm that the Managing Board exhibits in providing all modern infrastructure facilities and intellectual feedback to the school to elicit the maximum from the teachers as well as the taught.
Education, as we know, is the systematic process of drawing out one’s best. But it is also the process of driving in of all the relevant information that humanity has attained all through the ages, till present. True as the concept that ‘nobody teaches anyone’ is, the role of the teacher in imparting knowledge can never be ignored or underscored. Hagia Sophia has been lucky enough to get a team of excellent teachers – both dedicated as well as informed- under the dynamic and mature leadership of Ms. Susan Liju Ipe – the Principal.
An illustrious and vibrant educational institution can never be content with what it has been able to accomplish. It has to aim higher than the blue sky. It has to make its students look above mere material gains like winning well paid jobs or amassing enormous wealth. It has to have an echo to every call and challenge. Our school has a clear and specific motto – Liberation through Education. The knowledge and skills that it imparts should arm its pupils against evils and fouls. Now the school has to focus on its motto and activate the students in the process of liberation. Ours is a country where corruption, exploitation and marginalization of the weak and vulnerable are rampant. Our students are to be motivated to tread on the path of liberation and be the medium of change, fully aware and critical of the socio-political-cultural situation and also be instrumental in transforming the society into a just and fair one where everyone enjoys one’s right to live as a free and worthy citizen. May God help our school achieve this goal. I wish the Almighty’s blessings and protection to our school to discharge its responsibilities as a typical centre of education.
